Welcome to Car Hire Aberdeenshire. These Terms of Service govern your use of our website and vehicle rental offerings. By engaging with our services, you agree to these terms.
Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals in Aberdeenshire come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Aberdeenshire, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, with specific age restrictions depending on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence is required, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Identification and proof of current address must be presented, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may apply as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or at our Aberdeenshire office. A deposit may be required to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually collected at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to inspect the vehicle in detail and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the car. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Please ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as received, as refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may attract additional fees; please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are liable for any parking tickets, traffic fines, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Guidelines
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is in place. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence or misuse lies with you, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Usage must align with the vehicle's intended purposes, and passenger or weight limits should not be exceeded. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under Scots law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
